1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Path to Unity website, mobile application, or any related services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the Website.

Path to Unity reserves the right to modify or update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted here with an updated “Last Revised” date. Your continued use of the Website signifies your acceptance of any revised Terms.

2. Purpose of Path to Unity

Path to Unity is a civic and social engagement platform designed to:

  • Enable citizens, elected officials, schools, churches, nonprofits, and businesses to communicate publicly.
  • Facilitate transparent voting and funding for local community projects.
  • Provide members, sponsors, and independent promoters with opportunities to support or earn through memberships and sponsorships.

Path to Unity is a for-profit C Corporation that dedicates a significant portion of its revenue to nonprofit and community causes as disclosed in its public financial reports.

3. User Accounts

To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and current information.
  • Keep your login credentials secure.
  • Be responsible for all activity under your account.

Path to Unity may suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms or is used for unlawful purposes.

4. Public Official Profiles

Path to Unity creates public profiles for elected officials, school principals, and public administrators using publicly available information.

  • These profiles cannot be deleted, as they are part of PTU’s transparency mission.
  • Officials may claim, verify, and manage their profiles to ensure accuracy.
  • All communications on these profiles are publicly visible and archived.
  • Path to Unity does not endorse or guarantee the accuracy of comments, replies, or public content posted by users or officials.

5. Memberships and Payments

Path to Unity offers free and paid membership options.

By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to:

  • Authorize Path to Unity to charge your payment method on a recurring basis (monthly or annually).
  • Maintain accurate billing and payment information.
  • Acknowledge that membership fees are non-refundable, except where required by law.

Transaction Fees

  • Path to Unity uses third-party payment processors (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, ACH services).
  • All transactions are subject to approximately 4% processing fees deducted from the total.

6. Community Funds and Allocations

Funds collected from memberships and sponsorships are distributed as follows:

  • 70% to community projects and nonprofit partners, allocated by member voting by zip code.
  • 30% to Path to Unity operations, marketing, commissions, and administration.

Members may view allocation summaries on the Website. Final allocation decisions are made based on vote tallies, availability of qualified nonprofits, and Path to Unity’s verification process.

Path to Unity reserves the right to adjust distribution percentages as necessary for legal, accounting, or sustainability reasons.

7. Independent Promoters & Commission Program

Path to Unity offers an opportunity for individuals, influencers, schools, churches, and organizations to earn commissions by promoting memberships or sponsorships.

By participating as an Independent Promoter, you agree to:

  • Follow all laws, including FTC guidelines on endorsements and marketing.
  • Represent Path to Unity truthfully and professionally.
  • Avoid spam, false claims, or misleading advertising.
  • Understand that you are an independent contractor, not an employee, agent, or partner of Path to Unity.

Commissions are paid monthly and based on verified transactions linked to your unique referral or QR code. Path to Unity reserves the right to modify the commission structure or terminate promoter accounts that violate policy or misuse branding.

8. Sponsorships and Advertising

Businesses and corporate sponsors participating in the Path to Unity sponsorship program:

  • Authorize PTU to list their logos, names, and links on the Website.
  • Agree that sponsorship fees are considered advertising payments, not charitable donations.
  • May receive limited rights to display the Path to Unity logo in marketing materials, per brand guidelines.

Sponsorship arrangements are contractual and may be terminated by either party with 30 days’ written notice.

9. Content Ownership and Use

Users retain ownership of the content they post but grant Path to Unity a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to display, distribute, and archive content on the platform.

You agree not to post:

  • False, defamatory, or threatening content.
  • Content that violates intellectual property laws.
  • Obscene, discriminatory, or harmful material.

Path to Unity reserves the right to remove or restrict content that violates community standards or legal requirements.

10. Filming and Media Use

Path to Unity produces and publishes film, podcast, and video content documenting community meetings, events, and member stories.

By participating in Path to Unity activities (in-person or virtual), you consent to:

  • Being photographed, filmed, or recorded.
  • Allowing your likeness, voice, and statements to be used for promotional or educational purposes without compensation.

11. Data Transparency and Privacy

Path to Unity values transparency while protecting personal privacy.

  • Public posts and discussions are visible to all users.
  • Private account information and payment data are encrypted and handled under our Privacy Policy.
  • Path to Unity does not sell user data to third parties.

12. Limitation of Liability

Path to Unity provides its services “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:

  • User-generated content or third-party links.
  • Loss of data, income, or goodwill.
  • Delays, downtime, or errors caused by technical or third-party services.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Path to Unity’s liability shall not exceed the total amount paid by you in the preceding 12 months.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Path to Unity, its affiliates, officers, employees, and partners from any claims arising out of:

  • Your use of the Website or platform.
  • Content you post or share.
  • Violations of these Terms or applicable laws.

14. Termination

Path to Unity may suspend or terminate accounts at its discretion for:

  • Violations of these Terms.
  • Fraudulent or unlawful activity.
  • Misrepresentation of Path to Unity or its mission.

All unpaid commissions or earnings may be forfeited in the event of termination for cause.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts of Dallas County, Texas.
