Bio

Shun Thomas is a practitioner-scholar in human services, longtime educator, and civic leader. Her career spans nearly two decades in Plano ISD as a teacher, team leader, special education teacher, academic specialist, and district 504/MTSS coordinator. While in the district, she helped students succeed, coached educators, and streamlined services for families. Today, as an Educational Specialist at Children’s Health Plano, Shun fosters collaboration between hospitals and school districts so children receiving care return to class with the right support.

Education and Experience

Shun holds a Ph.D. in Human Services and is certified in restorative practices and Youth Mental Health First Aid. In addition to her professional work, she has served in leadership roles, including President of the Art Centre of Plano Board of Directors, the Trusted World Executive Leadership Committee, and Silent Auction Chair for the Plano Education Foundation’s SKI Plano event. Shun is also an active member of the Junior League of Collin County, where she has held numerous leadership positions, including President, President-Elect, Vice President of Training and Education, Director of Governance, and Vice President of Community Impact.

Her service includes appointments to the City of Plano Community Relations Commission; Chair of the Collin County Council on Family Violence Advisory Council, the Texas Health Plano Philanthropy Cabinet; and the Children’s Health Foundation Advisory Council. She is a proud member of Leadership Plano’s Class 39 and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Recognized as one of Plano’s 50 Leading Women and Collin County’s 40 over 40, Shun is widely respected for her collaborative leadership, integrity, and results-driven approach.
