Biography

Bio

Mr. Torian Stencer is the proud principal of Albert C. Black Jr. STEAM Academy, an elementary campus newly formed through the unification of students from Bushman Elementary and Elisha M. Pease Elementary. Having served as an assistant principal at both legacy campuses, Mr. Stencer brings strong relationships, firsthand knowledge of the community, and a deep commitment to student success.

Born and raised in Oak Cliff, Mr. Stencer is a proud product of Dallas ISD. He attended John W. Carpenter Elementary, T.W. Browne Middle School, and graduated in the top 10% of his class from Justin F. Kimball High School as a student-athlete. He earned a full scholarship to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where he completed his degree before returning home to begin his career in education.

Mr. Stencer began teaching social studies at his former middle school, T.W. Browne, where he quickly emerged as a leader. His passion for instruction and student growth led him to serve as a master teacher at both T.W. Browne and Kennedy-Curry Middle School. He later transitioned into administration, serving as assistant principal at Elisha M. Pease Elementary and then W.W. Bushman Elementary, where the campus earned a Distinction in Reading under his leadership.

He continued his impact at Boude Storey Middle School as assistant principal, helping lead the campus from a D to a B accountability rating within two years. Under his guidance, the social studies department also earned a state distinction. Mr. Stencer further expanded his leadership experience as a principal resident at Frederick Douglass Todd Sr. Middle School and as interim principal at O.W. Holmes Middle School. Most recently, he has served as an assistant principal at North Dallas High School.

Throughout his career, Mr. Stencer has remained grounded in his purpose: serving students and families with the same care and commitment he would give his own. His leadership is driven by a belief in equity, high expectations, and the transformative power of education.

At Albert C. Black Jr. STEAM Academy, Mr. Stencer is committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and high-performing school where every child thrives. For him, this work is personal—because this community is home.
