Steve and his family have lived in Carrollton for 30+ years with wife Peggi and two children educated in public school districts (CFBISD) and graduates of State Universities (Michael – Texas Tech and Sarah – Texas A&M).
They have attended St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Carrollton, having been married there in 1992, and participate as a Sacred Scripture Reader/Lector.
Eagle Scout
A graduate in Finance & Accounting from the Florida State University, Babick earned his MBA from Amberton University while working full-time and recently completed a Leadership Certificate with the John F Kennedy College of Public Policy and Government at Harvard University.
A Chief Financial Officer for both large public and small private entities throughout his career, Babick currently works with Waud Capital via a platform investment, HSI fueling organic and M&A growth; additionally, an investor via a holding company of small and mid-cap companies, he provides mentorship through the Dallas Entrepreneur Center and Addison Treehouse.
Babick is a member of the DFW Region CFO council and prior panelist at conferences. He has been named a Forbes Finance Council Advisor participating in Advisory Panels and contributing publisher via Forbes and Forbes.com.
Steve was elected Mayor of Carrollton in May 2022 where he is the senior elected officer of the City, establishing the Agenda, setting out strategic goals and priorities through consensus with Council and focusing on policy making in support of strategy. He represents Carrollton on the Council of Governments (Regional Transportation Council, Infrastructure & Water Committee, and Workforce Development Committee) the North Texas Commission, the Metrocrest Mayors Association, and the Dallas, Denton and Collin County Mayors Forums.
A former Councilmember on City Council (2014-2017 & 2018-2022) rotated as Mayor Pro-Tem among other leadership positions and committee assignments including: Audit & Finance Committee Chair, IT Committee Chair, Transit-Oriented Development Committee Chair, Redevelopment Committee, and chair of our Vision 2040 Committee, Master Plan committees in Downtown and District 35. He has served as liaison to virtually all city volunteer boards and commissions, in addition to the North Texas Council of Government committees, Waste Water Authority Board of Trinity River Authority, ad-hoc committees for the DFW Regional Chamber the Dallas State of Entrepreneurial Innovation, and Leadership Metrocrest, providing regional leadership mentorship to the Council of Government members.
Steve is a member of Rotary (2015-Present) and volunteers with our School Districts (CFBISD and LISD) where he mentors youth of all ages through the Early College High School, CFBISD schools and Boy Scouts.
