Biography

Bio

Welcome to Dewitt Perry Middle School, Home of the Mighty Eagles.

My name is Robert Atchison, I am proud to serve as the principal of Perry Middle School and honored to be part of a community that is deeply committed to student success. With over 20 years of experience in education, all within Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, I bring a strong foundation in instructional leadership, relationship building, and creating a positive campus culture where every student can grow and thrive.

I began my career as a classroom teacher and have had the privilege of serving in various leadership roles, including assistant principal and principal. Most recently, I served as the principal of Sheffield Elementary, where I worked alongside an incredible team to build a collaborative school community grounded in high expectations, empathy, and a shared belief in the potential of every child.

I believe that when we build schools on trust, shared purpose, and a commitment to getting a little better each day, we create the conditions where students can truly flourish. I am passionate about supporting teachers, fostering collaboration, and using data to make decisions that positively impact student learning. I know that middle school is a pivotal time in a young person’s life, and I am dedicated to ensuring that our students are known, valued, and equipped for success both in and beyond the classroom.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our three children, reading, and enjoying nature. I am thrilled to join the Perry Eagle family and look forward to working alongside our students, staff, families, and community partners to make this school year our best one yet.
