Bio

Michael Denton was elected to the Highland Park Independent School District Board of Trustees, Place 4, in May 2025.

Denton attended University Park Elementary School, McCulloch Middle School, and Highland Park High School, where he graduated in the class of 1989. As a Trustee, Denton currently serves on the Policy Board Standing Committee and is the Board Liaison to the Highland Park Education Foundation (HPEF) and La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas (La Fiesta). Prior to his election in 2025, he served as President of the Bradfield Elementary School Dads Club, President of the Park Cities Dads Club (PCDC), and President of HPEF, among other HPISD-related volunteer roles.

Denton is a partner and COO of Andy’s of Central Texas, LLC, an Andy’s Custard franchise operating several locations throughout Texas, a partner in D&D Energy, LLC, an upstream and midstream oil and gas business, and manages a family retail cattle operation, HLR Beef, among various other business endeavors.  He received a BBA in Finance from the University of Oklahoma in 1993, earned his Landman Certification from TCU’s Neely School of Business, and completed an EMBA from the University of Oklahoma.

In addition to his volunteer roles for HPISD, Denton has been involved in many areas of service through his church, Park Cities Presbyterian, as well as serving as a Board Member with Practice Ministries and a Board Member of MNA Disaster Response. He is an active Eagle Project Coach for Boy Scout Troop 82, having earned his Eagle Scout award in 1986.

Denton is married to Maryann, who has served and continues to serve in various service roles in HPISD, including serving as PTA President of MIS from 2017-2018. They have three children: Barrett (Class of 2023) attends Auburn University, Madeleine (Class of 2025) attends the University of Oklahoma, and Natalie (Class of 2027). The Dentons are active members of Park Cities Presbyterian Church, where Mr. Denton continues to serve as a deacon.
