Biography

Bio

Mark Schluter brings a wealth of leadership experience and knowledge of the school district to the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees, as he is the longest-tenured board member in district history. Through two stints on the board, Mr. Schluter has guided the district for more than 25 years.

Mr. Schluter was born in Fort Worth area and lived in Rhome, attending Northwest ISD schools throughout his youth, witnessing the rapid growth of the community. Notably, Mr. Schluter follows in the footsteps of his father, Carl, who served on the school board from 1958 to 1963.

As a civil engineer, Mr. Schluter is keenly aware of the growth of Northwest ISD and the need to plan ahead for increasing enrollment. With preparing for growth, Mr. Schluter believes in keeping the quality academic standards the district is known for. Preparing students to be prepared for their futures is a key reason Mr. Schluter serves as a strong proponent of the district’s academy programs as well as all career and technical education programs.

Since first joining the school board in 1988, Mr. Schluter has played a key role in keeping the district prepared through his insights and contributions. He strongly believes a united board working toward the common goal of supporting the needs of students can move the district to further success.

Mr. Schluter earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University. He and his wife are longtime Northwest ISD residents. His family lineage is composed of four generations of Northwest ISD students: his parents, he and his wife, their children and their grandchildren.
