Luisa Marlene Hernandez Garcia was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and immigrated lo the

United States with her family In pursuit of the American Dream. Through her parents’ sacrifices and the guidance of her teachers. she became the first in her family to graduate from college, earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Dallas. Inspired by her high school literature teacher, Ms. Hernandez Garcia began her career in education as a 9th-grade English teacher in Irving, ISD Her passion for serving students and creating a greater impact motivated her to pursue a master’s degree in educational leadership from Southern Methodist University.

 

Her leadership journey brought her to Dallas ISD, where she served as Assistant Principal at

Comstock Middle School, deepening her passion for working at the middle school level. Motivated by a drive for innovation, Ms. Hernandez Garcia later joined Dallas ISD’s Transformation and Innovation Region 5, taking on leadership roles at Onesimo Hernandez

Montessori Academy and ilearn/Dallas Hybrid Preparatory. During her time at these campuses, Ms. Hernandez Garcia led efforts that resulted in double-digit gains in student achievement. She was then promoted to Principal Resident. a role that provided invaluable leadership experiences. preparing her to eventually lead a Dallas ISD campus.

 

Ms. Hernandez Garcia ‘s career is anchored In the belief that education ls the most powerful pathway to equity, not Just for individual students. but for entire communities. She is deeply committed to ensuring that all children, regardless of their background, have access to a high-quality education that prepares them for a future filled with boundless opportunity. She ls excited to continue this work al Hector P. Garcia Middle School where she hopes to strengthen the International Baccalaureate Program and empower all children to pursue their dreams
