Mrs. Lucia Salinas has had the honor and privilege of being the proud Principal of
Cowart Elementary for the past eight years. Growing up in Oak Cliff, Mrs. Salinas is a
proud Dallas ISD alumna having attended George Peabody Elementary, Greiner Middle
School, and eventually graduated from Skyline High School. She later attended The
University of Texas at Arlington and earned her Masters in Educational Leadership from
Dallas Baptist University.
Growing up, Principal Salinas always knew she wanted to help others by becoming a
teacher. Once she began her teaching career, her love for her students and passion for
learning in the classroom turned into something bigger. Her desire to impact learning led
to her becoming an administrator and has been the driving force that led her to becoming
a Dallas ISD Principal. She is filled with pride to have been able to help and serve students
and parents for the past 23 years and believes it is a way of “giving back” for the
opportunities she has been given. Mrs. Salinas’ career goal is to ensure that every child
gets an education worthy of them.
As a lifelong learner who believes that innovation is necessary to meet the needs of
students and society, she is proud to currently be part of the Principal Impact
Collaborative and Dallas ISD’s first cohort of the Holdsworth Campus Leadership
Program. Both organizations strive to support principals to become stronger and more
innovative leaders. Over the years as Principal, Mrs. Salinas has led her team and campus
to Gold Ribbon status, numerous Academic Distinctions from the Texas Education
Agency and has earned grants at the local, state, and the national levels. In 2018, Mrs.
Salinas and her team applied for and became a campus of innovation through the
Personalized Learning Model. She was also named the Campus Principal of the Year for
the Sunset Molina Cluster in 2022.
She is excited about the opportunity to join both the Dallas Hybrid Preparatory and the
iLearn Virtual Academy teams and serve the staff, students, and communities at each
campus.
