Dr. Lillian Rauch brings a background of 40 years as an educator to the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees, with much of that time as a teacher in Northwest ISD. She retired from the district in 2012 after 13 years of supporting its students.
In her time as an educator in and resident of Northwest ISD, Dr. Rauch has seen the local community grow from a primarily rural environment to a mixture of suburban areas, commercial complexes and remaining rural environments. Having experienced the changes of fast growth, she believes maintaining a strong education system benefits the community at large.
As a nearly lifelong teacher, Dr. Rauch strongly believes literacy serves as a fundamental building block for a solid education. She served as a Reading Recovery teacher, districtwide Reading Recovery teacher leader and later as a district dyslexia assessment administrator in Northwest ISD, where she set high expectations for both students and teachers.
During Dr. Rauch’s career as an educator, she earned numerous accolades, including representing Lakeview Elementary School as its 2002-2003 Teacher of the Year. She was recognized at local and national levels for her Reading Recovery efforts, and she has written published articles and given professional presentations on reading and writing.
Dr. Rauch earned her doctorate in reading education from Texas Woman’s University; her master’s degree in education from the University of North Texas; and her bachelor’s degree in social sciences, summa cum laude, from California State University, Fresno. She and her husband have lived in the district for 26 years, and their three grandchildren attend Northwest ISD schools.
