I’m Leeann Englert, and since August 2021, I’ve had the distinct privilege of serving as the proud Principal of Porter Elementary School. Thank you for taking a moment to learn more about the transformational journey we’re on together as a school community.

Nestled in the vibrant and diverse Porter Park neighborhood, Porter Elementary is more than just a school—it’s a thriving hub of belonging, innovation, and collaboration. As a bilingual English/Spanish campus, we celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures and languages that shape our students’ lives, with over five home languages represented in our classrooms. Our strength lies in the variety of experiences and viewpoints we bring, and we use them every day to create meaningful learning experiences.

As transformational leaders and educators, we believe in empowering students to reach their full potential—academically, emotionally, and socially—through purposeful teaching and a culture of high expectations and support.

In 2021, Porter Elementary was honored as a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education—a recognition that affirms the excellence we strive for each day. But more importantly, it inspires us to keep reaching higher, innovating, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for our students.

We’re proud to offer a wide range of enriching programs that foster leadership, critical thinking, and confidence, including our House System, Amazing Shake, and Chess Club. Our community partnerships—such as the Promise League (Porter PTO) and Dads and Difference Makers—further extend our shared responsibility for student growth beyond the classroom walls.

From joyful traditions like our Winter Sing-Along and Western Day to our monthly Coffee Talks for families, our school is a place where connection, celebration, and continuous improvement thrive. At Porter, families are not just involved—they are invested, and their presence and passion make a visible impact on our school culture.
