Julie Holmer is a longtime Plano resident who moved to the city with her family in 1981. A proud graduate of Plano Senior High, she’s happy that both of her sons will also graduate as Plano Wildcats. She also has a bonus daughter, son-in-law, and spirited granddaughter.
Education and Experience
Julie earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Stephen F. Austin State University and began her career in social work before transitioning into Human Resources. She earned her SPHR certification and eventually served as HR Director for a boutique software firm. In 2002, she co-founded Mind’s Eye Solutions, Inc. with her husband, David.
In 2011, while a member of Leadership Plano Class 30, Julie stepped into the role of operating partner at Angela’s at the Crosswalk in Downtown Plano. Since selling the restaurant in 2017, she has worked in the print and promotional products industry, providing signs, apparel and branded merchandise through a local printing company.
Julie has served on numerous nonprofit and PTA boards including the Assistance Center of Collin County, Plano Parks Foundation, Theatre Britain and Historic Downtown Plano Association. A graduate of both the Plano Citizens Police Academy and Citizens Fire Academy, she has always been passionate about community engagement. She also helped promote the sport of pickleball locally as an ambassador for the U.S. Pickleball Association.
In 2021, Julie was elected to the Plano City Council, Place 7, following a five-way race and runoff. In a proud and unifying moment, all four of her opponents joined her at her swearing-in, underscoring her belief that “Plano is EVERYONE’s neighborhood.”
