Bio

Joseph Pouncy is a proud native of Southeast Dallas, having grown up in the Pleasant Grove community. He attended Edna Rowe Elementary and Alex W. Spence Middle School, and is a graduate of Skyline High School, Class of 1996.

 

Mr. Pouncy earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and his master’s degree in educational leadership from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. He completed his principal certification in 2011.

 

With over 20 years of experience in education, Mr. Pouncy began his career in 2002 as a business education teacher and coach at Irving High School. He went on to teach a variety of business education courses at Irving High School, Richardson High School, and Bryan Adams High School. Following his years in the classroom, he transitioned into administration, serving as assistant principal at Forney High School in Forney ISD.

 

His leadership experience includes serving as principal of Warren Middle School in Forney ISD, Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning at Region 10 Education Service Center, assistant principal at Skyline High School, and Assistant Director of Business Operations for the Dallas ISD Athletic Department.

 

Before returning to Skyline, Mr. Pouncy served as principal of The Marvin E. Robinson School of Business and Management at TownView Magnet High School. He is now entering his third year as principal of Skyline High School, continuing his commitment to academic excellence and student success in the community that helped shape him.

 

Mr. Pouncy is deeply committed to fostering student achievement, promoting equity, and building strong community relationships at Skyline High School—where his journey first began.
