Biography

Bio

Jennifer Murphy brings a background of community support to the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees, having worked in the nonprofit sector for more than two decades. She has lived in the district for 13 years with her family, maintaining a deep commitment to supporting schools.

Mrs. Murphy is a familiar face in the community, regularly attending school and district events in her free time. She strongly believes that board members are elected to make the best decisions for all students and that for student success, teachers must have the necessary tools and support from the board and school district.

As the director of grants and foundation relations for a local university, Mrs. Murphy understands the resources that support teachers and students. Prior to moving to North Texas, Mrs. Murphy served as the grants project manager in Northside ISD in San Antonio, the fourth-largest public school district in Texas. In this role, she oversaw all aspects of grant implementation.

Her experience in the education sector guides Mrs. Murphy’s beliefs that financial accountability and future planning are imperative to maintain a solid foundation for the fast growth that Northwest ISD experiences. With appropriate planning, she believes, the district can maintain classroom and extracurricular success.

Mrs. Murphy earned her bachelor’s degree in communication studies with a minor in international affairs from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and she is also a certified grants specialist. She and her husband are active supporters of the Northwest High School baseball team. Their son Joshua is an alumnus of Northwest High School, while their son Noah currently attends the same school.
