Jeff Gibson began proudly serving the citizens of Murphy in December 2023, having over 26 years of law enforcement experience in Tarrant County and Grayson County. He began his law enforcement career in 1997 and held multiple leadership positions. During his career, he has experienced nearly all aspects of policing including patrol, SWAT, training, recruiting, and internal affairs. Chief Gibson has served in other positions of leadership, including Interim City Manager and Director of Public Safety. He has been a Police Chief for over 8 years. Chief Gibson holds a Master Peace Officer License, and he is a Texas Commission of Law Enforcement, an Advanced licensed instructor.
He is a graduate of Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management of Texas, Management/Supervision (LEMIT), and earned a Master Certificate from the International City Managers Association, High-Performance Leadership (IMCA). Chief Gibson holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree from Dallas Baptist University.
