Raised in suburban Chicago, Greg and his wife Marilee were transferred for work and moved to DFW shortly after they were married and eventually settled in Plano where they raised their two sons before moving to Oak Point in 2014. Greg’s business career spanned various roles in sales, marketing and operations leadership for companies in the automotive aftermarket and more recently, in the trade show and corporate events industry. Travel has always been part of the job and included opportunities not just throughout the USA, but also to Europe, South America, China and Japan.
In 2021 when the Home Rule Charter Commission was forming, Greg thought it would be a good way to learn more about how city government works so he applied to join the commission. It was a great learning experience, and more so, meeting many engaged and dedicated fellow Oak Point residents who were all committed to maintaining the good government practices and character of Oak Point while charting a foundation for the city’s future. That positive experience led to a role on the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and now, the City Council.
Greg’s concerns are much the same as most of the citizens of Oak Point. Coping with and managing growth and change in our city while doing our absolute best to maintain our little country place while surrounded by inevitable suburban sprawl. He believes “We have a lot going for us – good fiscal discipline, a professional and dedicated department of public safety and city staff, and a good mix of experienced and newer citizen leaders on the council and our boards and commissions who seek the best solutions for all of us as a community as we face the challenges of the coming years. It is an honor to represent and serve the citizens of Oak Point.”
