With over 23 years of experience in public education—18 of those in administrative roles at both the campus and district level—Mr. Amaton brings a student-centered, collaborative, and results-driven leadership style that aligns well with GPISD’s commitment to innovation, equity, and excellence in education.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Angelo State University and a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. His career began in the classroom as a 5th grade Math and Science teacher, where he spent five years teaching and developing a strong foundation in instruction and classroom management which earned him the distinction of Elementary Teacher of the Year. He then served for eight years as a middle school administrator, followed by two years in elementary leadership, and most recently, eight years in district-level roles.
Mr. Amaton is inspired by Grand Prairie ISD’s innovation and its whole-child approach to learning. He is honored to lead an elementary campus that helps shape confident, curious learners ready to thrive as future leaders!
