This is Ernesto Guevara, or as I’m also known in the Mt. Auburn community, “Mr. G.” As we enter a new year, I am excited to be able to continue my role at Mt. Auburn as principal. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California to two hard working immigrant parents,  I understand firsthand the difficulties and challenges that are present in urban schools like Mt Auburn. Before entering the classroom, I dedicated 10 years to giving back to my community by doing non-profit work focused around youth advocacy.

In 2015, I began my educational career at Mt. Auburn working as a 4th and 5th grade teacher, helping students close their achievement gap. In 2019, I then became the math and science instructional coach at Mt. Auburn where I helped our teachers and students navigate the uncertainty of at home learning during the pandemic to minimize instructional time lost. In 2020, I was promoted to the position of Assistant Principal and at the same time worked towards my Masters Degree from SMU.

I will continue to work hard everyday to support our school and more importantly our students. My goal is to make Mt. Auburn the premier STEAM academy in Dallas ISD. I will work to ensure our school doesn’t miss a beat and students continue to excel in a joyful and supportive environment.
