Mrs. Emily Liles was elected to the Board of Trustees in May of 2019. She is married to Scott, a third-generation Grand Prairie resident who attended GPISD schools. Together, they have lived in Grand Prairie for more than 20 years and have two college-age daughters, both of whom graduated from South Grand Prairie High School.

Mrs. Liles works in accounting for an advertising and marketing firm in Ft. Worth and has volunteered most of her free time over the last 15 years giving back to GPISD schools.  She has served on the PTA in various positions and has been awarded the Texas PTA Lifetime Membership Award for her hours of service.

During her tenure on the Grand Prairie ISD Board of Trustees, Mrs. Liles has been instrumental in enhancing school safety, allocating resources for students to be career-ready when they graduate high school, and being a fiscal champion of the taxpayers’ hard-earned resources. Mrs. Liles believes that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed and that it’s important to be mindful that not every child learns the same way.

Mrs. Liles is most proud of three accomplishments during her tenure. First, she has taken the district to an A+ Superior financial rating and maintained it for the past five years. Second, Mrs. Liles has increased safety and security measures beyond state requirements. Third, with the help of our community, she led the charge to create a five-year strategic plan to set the district up for success and give clear direction for the days to come. All these decisions have been made while decreasing the tax rate each year she has served on the Board of Trustees.

Mrs. Liles has served on the boards of the GPISD Council of PTAs, Warrior Band Fans Booster Club, and Children First Counseling Center. Currently, Mrs. Liles serves on the GPISD Education Foundation Board and the SGP Archery Association. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
