I am honored to serve as the Principal of Sam Houston Middle School within the Garland Independent School District, a role I have proudly held since 2004. My commitment to enhancing academic performance and cultivating a positive school culture has been unwavering throughout my tenure.
With over three decades of experience in education, I have consistently pursued professional growth and excellence. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Southwest Texas State University and my Master’s Degree from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Additionally, I have participated in esteemed programs at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Schlechty Center, and have had the privilege of presenting at the AVID National Conference.
My dedication extends beyond my role as principal. I have actively engaged in various committees and initiatives within GISD, including serving as a table facilitator for the 2022-23 GISD Bond Steering Committee and co-presenting at the Texas Parent Engagement Conference. I also served on the Garland Education Foundation Board of Directors and have been honored as GISD PTA Secondary Principal of the Year.
My efforts in education have been recognized with several prestigious awards, such as the Verizon Visionary of Leadership Award and Coca-Cola’s Joseph B. Whitehead Educator of Distinction.
I am passionate about fostering academic excellence and engaging with the community to positively impact the students, staff, and families of Garland ISD. It is my privilege to work alongside dedicated educators and supportive families to ensure the success of our students.
