The Honorable Bobbie J. Mitchell has served as a member of the Denton County Commissioner’s Court for 23 years representing Lewisville, Flower Mound, Hickory Creek, Highland Village, Lake Dallas, Copper Canyon and several precincts in Corinth and Carrollton. She is a graduate of the VG Young Commissioner Court Leadership Academy.

Commissioner Mitchell began her political career by serving on the Lewisville City Council for ten years, three years as a Council member and seven years as Mayor. She has and continues to serve on many local community service boards and partners with many social service agencies.

Commissioner Mitchell is an advocate for families, health care, homelessness initiatives, sustainable communities, efficient government, education, veterans’ issues, low taxes and other county services.

She also advocates for better transportation and has been a part of successful bond packages that helped the county enhance safer roadways and buildings for citizens’ use.

She serves on several regional boards like the North Central Texas Council of Government that helps local government develop policy, recognize regional opportunities and make joint decisions on behalf of their counties and the region.

As a result of Commissioner Mitchell’s tireless efforts and ongoing dedication to the Denton County Community, she has received numerous accolades and awards for her contribution, time, and outstanding commitment to the Denton County Community, including the Bettye Myers United Way Humanitarian Award and the R.L. Crawford Legacy Award for the City Of Lewisville.

She was employed by GTE and retired after 20 years of dedicated service in various management positions.

Commissioner Bobbie J. Mitchell is a native Texan and has been a resident of Lewisville for 52 years. She is married and has two children, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
