Bill Cox was elected Mayor of McKinney in June 2025. He is a Principal in the McKinney-based Carey Cox Company, a commercial real estate firm specializing in Collin County.
Mayor Cox has received the McKinney Chamber of Commerce’s Carey Cox Citizen of the Year award, which is especially meaningful since it was named after his father. The Collin County Area Realtors have also honored him with the Realtor of the Year Award and Distinguished Service Award.
Mayor Cox is the recipient of his profession’s highest honor, the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors (NTCAR) Stemmons Service Award. This award goes to a member of NTCAR who best exemplifies the highest standards of a commercial broker, along with a demonstrated commitment to professional and community involvement.
Mayor Cox is an engaged member of the McKinney community, currently serving on the Collin College Foundation Board of Directors. His past leadership roles include Chairman of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce Board, President of the Rotary Club of McKinney, and Chairman of McKinney’s Planning and Zoning Commission. He has also held board positions with Texas Realtors, Collin County Area Realtors, and the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors. In addition, he co-chaired successful bond initiatives for both the City of McKinney and Collin College.
Mayor Cox is a graduate of McKinney High School and the University of Texas at Austin.
