Betty Gooden-Davis was elected to the Lancaster City Council in November 2020.
She is a passionate servant leader who is enthusiastic about serving the citizens of
Lancaster.
Betty is a native of Beaumont, Texas, and moved to Lancaster in 2004. Betty
currently serves as the District 6 city council representative and is a member of the
Texas Association of Black City Council Members (TABCCM) and life learner of City
Government for progress. Betty was involved with community affairs throughout the
Dallas area and is a strong advocate of children. She was an educator for 28 years,
served as a teacher mentor, member of the School Improvement Committee, and
member of Parent-Teacher Organizations.
Betty is passionate about strong neighborhoods and always supports initiatives to
strengthen the city’s focus on citizen engagement. She is committed to serving
Lancaster’s diverse community and advancing the vision of Lancaster as the
Shining Star of Texas.
Betty holds a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master’s of
Education in Administration. She is married with 3 wonderful children, 7
grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
